TAKEOVER AND AN UPGRADE FOR
CALIDORE
Calidore Computer Systems have just undertaken
a major project on behalf of their client AB Copyright of Halifax.
AB Copyright have recently acquired D. Priestley Office Equipment
of Halifax (a Progress On-Line user) and
so, faced with integrating the new users into the existing environment,
AB Copyright M.D. Greg Adams took the opportunity of reviewing his
options regarding his back-office systems. Calidore
then found themselves under competition pitting an upgrade to their
latest Power-Gx system against the Progress offering
and sales pitches from Prima and BlueSky.
M.D. Adams undertook an extensive investigation,
involving key staff members from all departments representing both
AB Copyright and Priestleys. Full day presentations were given by
Calidore and by each of the competitors in a comprehensive examination
of the available facilities. Each staff member produced
a scoring chart of the available systems and Calidore’s Power-Gx
came out on top.
Adams commented, “Having incorporated the very well established
local business of Priestleys in 2007 it was imperative that we got
the business using one back office system as soon as reasonably
possible. With very varied levels of computing skills within the
expanded work force, I was mindful of getting a system that was
able to go live on day one and was simple
to use, while offering us an ever evolving and improving
solution. Calidore Power GX system offered this and true
to their word we did go live on the day with very limited interruption.
I’m not sure I’d have got that from any other system.”
The award of the order meant a full upgrade to the existing AB
Copyright system and the conversion and integration of the Progress
data from the Priestley’s system into newly consolidated ledgers.
Completed on schedule, both sets of staff are united within the
new company and all operating within the new system.
Calidore’s Kevin Cowell was happy with the result, “After
a long association with AB Copyright it was very satisfying to get
the go ahead and to see the resulting fusion of the two companies
and the Power-Gx system.”
Stage two sees the implementation of the integrated on-line shopping
facility ePower which will improve the service
to their clients and ease the work carried out by the AB Copyright
staff.
